Sarah & Bill⎜Alexandria, Virginia

There is no perfect plan. That’s the first rule you learn when starting to organize a Northern Virginia wedding. You know that something might go wrong. For Sarah & Bill, it was the new pandemic that hit the year they wanted to get married. However, they already had planned a COVID-friendly intimate wedding in Alexandria.

Only 30 guests were invited and the ceremony was planned to take place outside of the Kimpton Lorien Hotel. Unfortunately, they had to move their wedding from May to July but they quickly rescheduled their plan and it was perfect, just the way it was supposed to be.

The ceremony was simple yet the words of the officiant were powerful. Love wins it all at the end!

The Hanbok: a Korean touch from sarah’s roots

Sarah had to change a second time before dinner. She had planned to wear the traditional Korean wedding dress: the hanbok.

Technically speaking, the Hanbok is worn for any formal occasion to include weddings. Wedding Hanboks generally have more vibrant colors and patterns to indicate formality and royalty.

Her mother was also wearing one, which was a great way to celebrate their Korean roots during the ceremony!

Planning your wedding at Kimpton Lorien Hotel & Spa in Alexandria

Alexandria’s very known hotel is the perfect place to get ready or organize a wedding. I was there a few years ago for a couple who chose to start their day here, before leaving for the church and their reception venue at George Washington’s Mount Vernon restaurant. I do love their room and the terrace, which gave us plenty of space to get creative.
