Your DC wedding in a Brewery, Winery or Cidery

If you love wine, beer, or cider, you might want to plan your Washington DC wedding in a special place where you can drink your favorite beverage as much as you want. You can check my list of 25+ wedding venues if you are looking for the perfect venue in Washington DC.

District Winery

District Winery is very well known for being the place to be when talking about weddings and wine in the District of Columbia. This DC venue is a great size for a mid or large size wedding (around 130 and 180). It welcomes your guests with a beautiful open reception space that could accommodate everyone in one big open space with a big dance floor. The beautiful rooftop terrace overlooks the Anacostia River and has a retractable roof/walls that allow an easy, back-up weather plan that you can literally implement within seconds with a remote.

But let’s talk about wine! Wine is phenomenal and you’ll see this over and over in their reviews. They have a large wine selection that will make any couple happy. Winemaker Conor McCormack sources grapes from esteemed growing regions across the U.S. and handcrafts all District Winery wine in-house, from grape crushing to wine bottling.

City Winery DC

The Wine Garden Rooftop is a beautiful setting for a City Wedding and it has an elegant, rustic, modern look and vibe to it. City Winery is constantly adding to the look of the venue, they even covered the walls with Ivy on the rooftop and it can really add something special to your overall ceremony look.

If you are just starting to look for a venue for your 150 guest wedding in or around DC and don’t want anything too stuffy or too fussy, a more laid back vibe, City Winery is the perfect venue for you! It is a little bit rustic, a little bit industrial and a whole lot of amazing. The place can give you the advantages of an all-in-one, like a catering hall or hotel, with a lot more character. The food is great and if you have a band, the musicians will love to play at this concert venue. It looks, sounds, and tastes amazing. You can use the wine garden floor (great indoor-outdoor covered space) for the ceremony and the convert venue floor for the reception.

What about the wine? The venue has their own winery and a great selection! They take great pride in sourcing their grapes from some of the finest vineyards in the world – Cabernet Sauvignon from Bettinelli in Napa, California to Pinot Noir from Hyland Vineyards in Willamette Valley, Oregon or even Malbec from the esteemed Catena Vineyards in Agrelo, Mendoza Argentina.

Supreme Core Cider

Supreme Core Cider offers a fun, laid-back atmosphere for your wedding reception or rehearsal dinner. The venue is adjacent to the National Arboretum in Washington, D.C., a sprawling 446-acre research center with a host of gardens and beautiful landscape. A great location for your wedding pictures and your family formals!

The cidery is a convivial, lay-back atmosphere with a very cool 24-food finished wood bar. Fun flows from the 16-handle tap line, and you and your guests can enjoy over ten different craft ciders! Supreme Core Cider will recommend caterers and culinary vendors to complement your event — including food trucks. You can keep it simple and fun, to focus on celebrating with your loved ones.

Cidery: Anxo

I remember being so excited when Anxo opened on Florida Avenue! They promised good cider and Basque food (the region between France and Spain) and I was not disappointed. The place is cozy and has a mix of rustic and urban vibe. They make their own cider with amazing apples purchased directly from farmers, fermented dry in Washington, DC with wine and native yeasts.

They have a great selection of ciders, from rosé to very dry white. If you are planning to get married with Anxo, I would love to be your photographer!

Bluejacket Brewery

Bluejacket is a hidden gem in Navy Yard! The space that Bluejacket occupies is as distinctive as the brewery itself. Built in 1919, the building – known as the boilermaker shops – was part of the navy yards ship and munitions manufacturing complex, and it is one of the few true industrial buildings remaining in Washington, DC. It’s a great space for chill couples who want something truly unique!

Urbana Restaurant And Wine Bar

Experience unrivaled Italian cuisine in a casual-chic setting at Urbana Restaurant and Wine Bar. This thoughtfully designed restaurant offers several private dining options for parties as small as 12 or as large as 200. You can gather your loved ones in one of its stunning private spaces or invite all your friends and family and opt for a whole restaurant buyout. Whatever you decide, you can be sure that your guests will be blown away by the exceptional food inspired by the Italian coast and created with fresh, local ingredients (including some from the restaurant’s own rooftop garden!) by Executive Chef Ethan McKee.

With a great location in Dupont Circle, the celebrated Washington D.C. restaurant’s sophisticated ambiance and elegant décor will provide a sleek backdrop for your once in a lifetime celebration.

Bonus: The distillery Republic Restoratives

If you want to play hard, Republic Restoratives in Ivy City is the venue you will love. Bourbon, Brandy, Vodka, and Rye are to die for. In addition to the incredible cocktails, the setting at the distillery is beautiful. The venue’s space fits the industrial ambiance of the neighborhood well. The main area is decorated with barrels to sit on, old school file cabinets, and hanging greens from the walls. The mayor of DC had her birthday party here! Note that the owners are two best friends making this place one of the only female-run distilleries in the country.
