Best Beach Engagement Photo Locations in Maryland
Being right by the coast, there are tons of beaches in Northern Virginia and Maryland that are perfect for taking beach engagement photos! Today I’m sharing a few of my favorite locations to take engagement pictures by the water.
Ocean City
Perhaps one of the first beaches that come to mind when you think of beaches in Maryland is Ocean City Beach. In fact, did you know that this beach was named one of the top 10 beaches in America? While this beach makes for a great spot to visit any day, it also makes a great spot for beach engagement photos! Take a sunset stroll along the shore or try an activity together. There are tons of things to do at this beach like bike riding, surfing, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and more!
Assateague Island
Assateague Island is a magical island located along the coast of Maryland and Virginia. One of the things that make this island so special is that you can see wild ponies up close. Imagine kayaking with these animals just feet away. This island is great for getting away and experiencing a little more privacy while offering incredible sights you won’t get to experience anywhere else.
The Chesapeake Bay
Another well-known Maryland beach is the Chesapeake Bay. This bay is known as an estuary which is when freshwater mixes with saltwater and is the largest estuary in the United States and the 3rd largest in the world! There are lots of things to do and see around the Bay but one of my favorite locations is the Great Chesapeake Bay Loop. This spot is perfect for picnicking or taking in the views while strolling the waterfront.
Calvert Cliffs State Park
This park is perfect if you’re looking for rugged coastline views! Located near the Chesapeake Bay, Calvert Cliffs State Park is a beautiful beach with exposed cliffs where you can see fossils and remains of prehistoric animals including sharks, whales, rays, and seabirds.
Note - there is a $5 parking fee for all vehicles.
Lakes Around Maryland
If none of the other locations are speaking to you, there are always tons of lakes in Maryland to choose from. Depending on what you want to do, some of the best lakes to visit are Deepcreek Lake, Lake Needwood, Clopper Lake, and Lake Centennial.
