Engagement Session in Cathedral Heights ⎜Washington DC

Gabriel and Olivia’s engagement photo session was filled with cozy in-home vibes, their dog, and one of Washington DC’s most beautiful neighborhoods! This couple got engaged in the Cathedral Heights neighborhood so it was only natural that they wanted to also include this location in their engagement photography session.

Why In-Home Sessions are the Best Way to Kick off Your Engagement Photos

It is always an honor when clients invite me into their homes to capture their photos. Having in-home couples photos is a great way to document your life in a space that you love. It’s also one of the best ways to start an engagement photography session. You’ll not only get to capture your daily life at home and around your neighborhood, but it’s also a good opportunity to get some photos of where you live now. After all, you may not live in that house forever, and having photos to look back on during your time there will be so special.

Add a Second Location to Your Engagement Photography Session for Some Variety

Choosing two locations is a great way to add some variety to your engagement photography session. After their in-home couples photos, Olivia and Gabriel chose a second location that had become very special to them throughout COVID. During the pandemic, the couple had started running more in the Cathedral Heights area. This Washington DC neighborhood is so calm and beautiful (I highly recommend taking a stroll through the Bishop Garden.) From Cathedral Heights, you can see the Washington Monument which makes visiting this area even cooler.

How to Include Pets in Your Engagement Photography Session

Having pets at a photo session can often seem like a great idea, but one that can cause stress if not properly prepared for. It’s only natural to want your pet in some of your photos as they are a big part of your family, but it’s often hard to do an entire photography session with pets because of how distracting they (or the environment) can be. That’s why taking photos at home is one of the best ways to get photos with your furry friends while also giving you a place to leave them when you head to the second location. It’s a good compromise and a great way to experience the best of both worlds!
