Top 8 Venues For An Intimate Ceremony In Washington DC

As an intimate wedding photographer in DC, I’ve had plenty of experience in having my favorite venues when it comes to a small affair. Washington DC might have the biggest venues in the region, but it also has the cutest and coziest wedding space. Here are 8 locations that are perfect for a wedding with under 50 guests and less!

You can check my list of 25+ wedding venues if you are looking for the perfect venue in Washington DC.

Fathom Gallery

Fathom Gallery is a small space on 14th street in Washington DC. In the heart of Logan Circle, this 2500 sqft outdoor rooftop garden just outside the 1250 sqft gallery space can welcome 50 guests easily. Their blank canvas allows clients to create a custom, one-of-a-kind, wedding of their dreams. If you want a good idea, look at Monika and Gary’s gorgeous wedding on my blog.

Dumbarton House

Situated just steps from the Rock Creek Park trails and only a few minutes from the Potomac River, Dumbarton House is a unique place for a stunning wedding celebration. I love the elegant brick building that welcomes you with wide white columns. You can plan to exchange your vows in a charming courtyard, with green vines climbing the walls which creates a romantic ambiance. The venue is gorgeous and you will like that you can have the ceremony and reception all on one site. If most of your guests are from out of town you will need a venue that is close to DC proper. Dumbarton House is just the right balance of being in the city without having the drawbacks, like hearing traffic.

Arts Club of Washington

A unique arts club housed in the former residence of President James Monroe, this splendid home has been hosting memorable events for over 200 years. And by the way, the newly-elected Monroe even held his inaugural celebration in the home’s upper parlors!

Dacor Bacon House

From the wedding of Miss Sally Carroll and Captain Charles Griffin attended by President and Mrs. Lincoln to the nuptials of newly-commissioned Foreign Service Officers heading out to their first post, the DACOR Bacon House has been a favored location for new couples beginning their lives together. You have a choice of several reception options, including an impressive dining room and a plush library, all decorated with splendid period art and furnishings. A half-acre garden with a built-in pergola can be used for ceremonies or cocktails, with leafy magnolias providing plenty of shade.

Studio52

Located in the heart of Ivy City, Studio52's 2200 sq ft venue features a 100-year-old reclaimed wood wall and vintage 1920's factory windows. This is a very unique space for a modern intimate ceremony. The 20-foot ceilings offer an open and inviting space, while the reclaimed wood walls offer a cozy, character-filled atmosphere.

Heurich House Museum

Conveniently located one block from Dupont Circle, the Heurich House Museum is a uniquely charming venue for your special day. The bright and spacious Conservatory and secluded urban Castle Garden are the perfect settings for traditional and out-of-the-box weddings, from 2 to 125 guests alike. You will love the history of the house, the beautiful rooms, and the ability to have an indoor/outdoor wedding in an urban location.

Toolbox Art Studio

The venue is beautiful and it’s in a great location. The staff at Toolbox Art Studio is incredible. The small art studio is modern, intimate, centrally located, and simply beautiful. It is a perfect location for either a small ceremony or a bigger reception.

Top of the Town

When you live in DC, you might be interested in a more urban setting. In Arlington, Top of the Town could be a good option, based on its beautiful view of DC, easy location, and parking for guests. There are so many aspects of the venue that are beautiful starting with the scenic elevator ride up to the gorgeous hallways leading to the reception room.
